Laurence J Logan

Beloved husband, father, physician and friend, Laurence J. Logan succumbed to pancreatic cancer on April 12. Born to Knute and Marian Logan in Alexandria, MN, he spent his early years in Olympia, WA before entering Stanford University and later Stanford Medical School. Trained in Internal Medicine, he served as Lt. Colonel-US Army, Chief-Dept. of Medicine in Heidelberg, Germany and Chief-Dept. of Clinical Research at Letterman Hospital in San Francisco. After training in Hematology at USC School of Medicine, he joined the Gundersen Clinic in La Crosse, WI.

There he enjoyed patient care and teaching and was recognized as President of the Medical Staff and Teacher of the Year.

In 1987, he joined the Hemophilia Center at Huntington Hospital and Orthopaedic Hospital in Los Angeles, where he served as Director.

His enthusiasm for caring extended into the community. He spent numerous years as a physician at a summer camp for youth with hemophilia, as President of the Southern California Hemophilia Foundation and President of the South Pasadena Rotary Club.

A jazz aficionado, avid reader, historian and international traveler, his legacy of compassion, intellectual honesty and appreciation of life will live on as inspiration to devoted family and friends. Loving family who shared his life are Pauline Logan, wife of 54 years, daughters Vicki, Becky, P.K., and Lauretta as well as eight grandchildren.

Should friends desire, donations in memory of Laurence Logan may be made to the Southern California Hemophilia Foundation's summer camp.
